In 2010 a 34 year-old Damien Rider was suicidal, struggling to escape the distress of his abusive and broken childhood. In 2015, instead of checking out he decided to paddle 800 kilometres from Coolangatta to Bondi, securing 3 world records along the way. The 17 day ocean sojourn both threatened his life and saved it.
